Irish Step Dance

Máire Clerkin is an Irish Dancer, choreographer, writer and teacher. Her current one-woman comedy show The Bad Arm – Confessions of a Dodgy Irish Dancer, at Bang Theatre in Hollywood, was LA Weekly’s Theater Pick. She has been invited to present it at LA Irish Film Festival and Western US Oireachtas. Maire was guest speaker at University of Limerick Dance Theatre Festival in Ireland, June ’08. Currently she is choreographing for companies in San Francisco and Connecticut: her work will be showcased at the World Irish Dance Championships April 2009 in Philadelphia.

An international adjudicator with the Irish Dancing Commission in Dublin, Máire’s teaching credits include Limerick University, Loyola Marymount University, DV8 Physical Theatre, California Dance Educators, Scripps College, and Long Beach Ballet School. She is a Master Teaching artist for Los Angeles Music Center and Orange County Performing Arts. In 2007 Máire staged A Gaelic Gathering at Walt Disney Concert Hall. She has choreographed for Theatre Royal Drury Lane, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Opera House and national UK touring. Máire directed Cadence Dance Theater in Arizona, and won Western US Irish Dance Drama title. She is a guest artist with Molly’s Revenge band.
